Welcome in Loceri:
Loceri is situated on the hills of Ogliastra, surrounded by lovely vegetation with an abundance of olive groves and vineyards. Loceri is in an ideal position, just a short distance from both sea and mountains. Of special interest are the country churches of Saint Bachisio and The Sacred Heart. It is well worth climbing the hill which dominates the town of Loceri in order to visit the Nuraghe Serra Uleri. Its summit dominates all the surrounding valley and boasts a splendid view of the town of Loceri. A visit to the "Domus de Janas" of Serra Paulis, also known as Pirarba, is an evocative experience. The path which leads to it affords the possibility of admiring the typical lush vegetation of Loceri. The current Museum Sa Domu è s’Olia was a mill dating back to 1910 and restored by the town in 1995. The museum was inaugurated in 2000. The structure is composed of three floors. Inside the building it is possible to see antique field-work implements, objects of everyday use, furniture and equipment, the traditional dress of Loceri and toys. For example, the mural situated adjacent to the school, in front of the Church of Saint Peter is one of the largest in Sardinia. Precious hand embroidery and crocheting are of particular note in Loceri. L’Artigianato di Loceri produces beautiful, entirely hand made ceramics in a traditional Sardinian style. The local gastronomy boasts such typical dishes as: "culurgiones", "caccoi de forru", cheeses, hams, macaroons, "pardulas", gattò, "paniscedda", mustacciolus, goeffusu, excellent wines and olive oil.
